Medium dove, 26–28 cm, pale grey-brown with a black hindneck collar and a pinkish breast. Extremely common across sub-Saharan Africa from Ethiopia to South Africa, in open woodland, savanna, and farmland. Granivore of seeds and grain. Familiar garden bird throughout its range and one of Africa's most abundant doves. Least Concern.
