The Norfolk Ground Dove (Pampusana norfolkensis) is known only from the historical record. A small columbid of some 20-23 cm, dark brown above and pale buff below with bare facial skin, it lived on Norfolk Island in the south-western Pacific and was last confirmed in the 1800s. Hunting and the clearance of habitat that followed European settlement removed it within a few generations of contact. No weight or wingspan measurements were taken before the species disappeared, and no modern data on the living bird exist.
