The Black-bellied Firefinch is a small, brightly colored finch of sub-Saharan African scrublands and savanna, with males showing reddish-pink upperparts and a distinctive black belly patch. It ranges across a broad belt of West and Central Africa from Senegal to Uganda, frequenting tall grass, bush edges, and the vicinity of rocky areas. It feeds on small grass seeds and occasionally insects.
