A medium-sized nightjar endemic to the island of Timor in the Lesser Sundas, Indonesia. Cryptic brown plumage adapted to dry monsoon forest habitats. Nocturnal insectivore. Limited published information on ecology; considered a range-restricted species requiring further study.

Dark sooty-brown upperparts densely patterned with blackish streaks and pale buff spots; whitish throat band; underparts buff with dark brown barring; restricted to Timor with limited information on plumage variation.
Habitat & Range
Répartition géographique
Endemic to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the eastern Indian Ocean. Resident in forest edge, secondary growth, and coastal scrub.
Diet & Feeding
Feeds nocturnally on moths and beetles caught in sustained low hawking flights over open and semi-open habitats.

Poorly documented; presumed churring calls similar to Large-tailed Nightjar complex; vocalizations from Timor essentially unrecorded; calls at dusk from scrub
