A medium-sized swift (14-15 cm) found on the island of Bioko (formerly Fernando Po) in the Gulf of Guinea, Equatorial Guinea. Dark plumage. Aerial insectivore. A poorly known, range-restricted species limited to the volcanic island. Very limited ecological data available.

Dark sooty-brown overall; pale greyish throat and chin patch; underparts slightly paler; broadly similar to African Swift; data-deficient Bioko Island endemic; plumage details poorly documented from limited specimens.
Habitat & Range
Répartition géographique
Found on Bioko Island in the Gulf of Guinea and adjacent Cameroon highlands. Restricted to mountain forests and highland areas.
Diet & Feeding
Aerial insectivore relying entirely on flying insects (midges, gnats, small beetles) and airborne spiders.
