Cnemophilidae

Satinbirds; 3 species of birds of paradise-like birds endemic to montane New Guinea. Males have brilliant plumage of gold, orange, or red-orange; females are drab. Long considered birds of paradise but molecular studies place them as a basal lineage outside the core Passerida. Frugivorous.
