Chat-tanagers; 2 species endemic to Hispaniola in the Caribbean—the Eastern and Western Chat-tanager. Secretive ground-dwellers of forest undergrowth. Plain brown-and-white plumage. Their true evolutionary position was uncertain for decades; now placed near other Caribbean island tanager-relatives.
