Least Grebe
Least Grebe (Tachybaptus dominicus) is the smallest New World grebe at 21–27 cm. Dark grey overall in breeding plumage with yellow eye, blackish cap, and short bill. Inhabits small freshwater ponds, ditches, and marshes from the southern USA through Central and South America to northern Argentina. Feeds on small fish and aquatic invertebrates.
Little Grebe
El zampullín chico (unos 170 g) es la más pequeña de las zampullines europeas. Con el aspecto rechoncho, el cuello corto y la característica mancha amarilla brillante en la base del pico en la época de cría, es inconfundible. Bucea de repente y con frecuencia reaparece en un punto inesperado. Habita estanques y lagos con vegetación emergente de toda Europa, Asia y África. Su nido flotante está anclado a la vegetación acuática. Su chirrido tembloroso y descendente es muy característico.
