Der Basstölpel ist ein spektakulärer Sturzflugtaucher, der seine zwei Meter breiten Flügel pfeilförmig anlegt und mit bis zu 100 km/h auf das Wasser trifft. 81–92 cm. White with black wingtips; orange-yellow bill; orange orbital ring; grey feet. Breeds Galapagos Islands and Malpelo Island. Similar to Masked Booby; distinguished by bill colour and range. Feeds on flyingfish and squid; spectacular aerial plunge-dives.
