Die Felsentaube ist die Stammform aller Haustaubenrassen und einer der häufigsten Vögel in Städten weltweit. Darwins Studien zur Taubenzucht trugen wesentlich zu seiner Evolutionstheorie bei.
Rosalöffler
Der Rosalöffler ist die einzige Löfflerart Amerikas und einer der auffälligsten Watvögel der westlichen Hemisphäre. Wie bei Flamingos stammt seine rosa Farbe von Carotinoid-Pigmenten aus seiner Beute an Krebstieren. Im 19. Jahrhundert wegen seiner Federn fast bis zur Ausrottung bejagt, haben sich die Bestände seither erheblich erholt.
