Der Regenbogentukan ist der Nationalvogel von Belize und einer der bekanntesten Vögel der Neotropis. Sein überdimensionierter Schnabel, der ein Drittel seiner Körperlänge ausmachen kann, ist dank seiner hohlen, wabenartigen Struktur tatsächlich sehr leicht. Tukane übernachten gemeinschaftlich, wobei sich bis zu sechs erwachsene Tiere eine einzige Baumhöhle teilen.

It inhabits humid lowland forests of the Guiana Shield and northern Amazonia, including Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and northern Brazil. It feeds primarily on fruits and berries in the forest canopy, supplemented by insects and small vertebrates.
