About These Birds
Black-eared Barbet
The Black-eared Barbet is a colorful, stocky bird with vivid green plumage, a red-streaked breast, blue facial markings, and distinctive black ear patches. It is found in lowland rainforests and forest edges of the Thai-Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo. Like other barbets, it feeds primarily on figs and soft fruits, supplemented by insects, and excavates nest holes in dead wood.
