Tsingy Forest Rail
Tsingy Forest Rail (Mentocrex beankaensis), 21 cm. Similar to Madagascar Forest Rail but adapted to the Tsingy limestone formations in western Madagascar. Cryptic brown plumage; red bill. Omnivore in dense karst forest undergrowth. Vulnerable; restricted to the Beanka forest and adjacent tsingy habitats.

Striped Flufftail (Sarothrura affinis), 14 cm. Brown above with white streaks below; secretive grassland rail of montane Africa from Ethiopia to South Africa. Inhabits rank grass and bracken on highland slopes. Omnivore. Least Concern; widespread in suitable montane grassland.
