Males (peacocks) have iridescent blue-green plumage and an enormous train of elongated upper tail coverts with eye-spots. Females (peahens) are brown and cryptically patterned.

Inhabits primary and tall secondary forest. Omnivorous ground forager. Vulnerable from rampant deforestation and hunting in Borneo.
