Large, rotund pigeon, 38–40 cm, dark blackish-brown above, white below with a broad white collar and dark spots on the flanks. Australia's largest ground-nesting pigeon, inhabiting temperate rainforest and moist sclerophyll forest from Queensland to South Australia and Victoria. Frugivore of forest fruits and seeds.
