Diese geselligen Vögel bilden außerhalb der Brutzeit Schwärme und sind wichtige Bestäuber von Pflaumen- und Kirschblüten. Auf Hawaii eingeführte Populationen sind allerdings invasiv geworden und konkurrieren dort mit einheimischen Kleidervögeln.
