Distinctive yellow and black crest, red bill, red eyes. Krill and fish feeder. Endangered; population has declined dramatically due to ocean warming and food shortages.

Piscivore and krill feeder; dives to 175 m. Migratory; travels up to 300 km on sea ice to winter grounds.
