How to Tell Them Apart
Jungfernkranich
Pale blue-grey body with a black head, neck, and breast plumes. White ear tufts extend behind the red eyes. Long black tertials drape over the tail.

Die Schnee-Eule ist die schwerste Eule Nordamerikas und einer der charismatischsten Vögel der Arktis. Anders als die meisten Eulen ist sie größtenteils tagaktiv – bedingt durch das durchgehende Tageslicht der arktischen Sommer. Periodische Masseneinflüge der Schnee-Eule nach Süden hängen mit den Populationszyklen der Lemminge zusammen.
