Lowland humid forest in the western Amazon basin of Peru, Ecuador, and adjacent Colombia and Brazil. Prefers undisturbed terra firme and seasonally flooded forest interior below 400 m.

Black Tinamou

Humid cloud forest at 1,000–1,800 m in the Andes of southwestern Colombia and northern Peru. Favors steep terrain with dense undergrowth and mossy forest floor. Extremely range-restricted and rarely observed.

A small brown tinamou with obscure barring and a grey throat, named after naturalist Edward Bartlett. Found in the western Amazon basin in Peru, Ecuador, and adjacent Brazil. Terrestrial and cryptic; detected mainly by its soft clear whistle in humid forest.

Black Tinamou
