About These Birds
Schwarzlori
The Black Lory is a medium-sized, entirely black lory with red undertail coverts, a yellow bill, and red bare facial skin around the eye, giving it a striking appearance. It inhabits the rainforests of western New Guinea and nearby islands including Misool, Salawati, and Batanta. Like other lories, it feeds primarily on nectar and pollen from forest flowers, with a brush-tipped tongue adapted for this diet.
