The Black-faced Laughingthrush is a gregarious, medium-sized laughingthrush with brown upperparts, a rufous-tinged breast, and a bold black facial mask. It inhabits montane forests and dense bamboo thickets of the eastern Himalayas and adjacent mountains of China and Southeast Asia, typically at elevations from 1,500 to 3,500 meters. It forages in noisy, chattering flocks through undergrowth, searching for insects, berries, and seeds.
