Der Prachtstaffelschwanz ist einer der beliebtesten und bekanntesten Vögel Australiens; brütende Männchen tragen ein spektakuläres violett-blaues Gefieder. Diese winzigen Vögel leben in kooperativen Familiengruppen, in denen Helfer dem Brutpaar bei der Aufzucht der Jungen zur Seite stehen. Männchen pflücken gelbe Blütenblätter und überreichen sie den Weibchen im Rahmen der Balz.
