Rockrunner

The Rockrunner (<em>Achaetops pycnopygius</em>) is a member of the family Macrosphenidae, a group of small Old World warblers found primarily in Africa. Detailed plumage and behavioral descriptions of this species are limited in the available literature. The species is associated with rocky, arid terrain typical of southern African habitats, where its name reflects its affinity for navigating exposed rock faces and boulder-strewn slopes. Nesting details are incompletely documented, though clutch sizes of two to three eggs have been recorded, suggesting a modest reproductive output consistent with many small passerines of its region. Like other members of the Macrosphenidae family, the Rockrunner is believed to be largely insectivorous, foraging in and around rocky substrates.
