About These Birds

Bicolored Antvireo

The Bicolored Antvireo is a near-threatened small antbird restricted to foothill and lower montane forests of northwestern Ecuador and the southwest slope of Colombia. Males are grey and white and females are brown with buffy streaking. It forages in pairs in the forest midstory for insects gleaned from leaves and branches.

Band-tailed Antbird

The Band-tailed Antbird is a small antbird of the family Thamnophilidae found in dense undergrowth near water in Amazonian forests. Weighing about 13g with a wingspan of 11.9cm, it has a spotted tail pattern that distinguishes it from similar species. It forages low in vegetation for insects, often near forest streams and flooded areas.
