Rufous-chested Plover (Charadrius modestus) is a medium 22–24 cm plover of South American grasslands. Sandy-brown above; distinctive chestnut breast-band in breeding plumage; white supercilium. Inhabits open short grasslands, steppe, and coastal flats from southern South America; winters north to southern Brazil. Migratory. Feeds on invertebrates.

Breeds on rocky riverbeds of China, Korea, and Japan; winters along rivers and coasts of Southeast Asia. Invertebrate feeder.
