Endemic to the Pacific slope of western Mexico in Sonora and Sinaloa. Inhabits tropical dry forest, thorn scrub, and agricultural edges. Forages in groups for seeds and insects. Least Concern; restricted range but stable in Mexican dry forest habitats.
