48 cm, wingspan 109 cm. Large shearwater; brown above, white below with pink feet; dusky underwing border. Breeds Juan Fernandez and Mocha islands, Chile; migrates to North Pacific. Vulnerable; threatened by introduced predators and longline bycatch. Feeds on fish and squid.
Bannerman's Shearwater
30 cm. Dark above; white below with dark vent and undertail. Breeds Bonin (Ogasawara) Islands and Volcano Islands, Japan. Endangered; very small population threatened by rats. Closely related to Newell's Shearwater; ranges in north Pacific.
