48 cm, wingspan 109 cm. Large shearwater; brown above, white below with pink feet; dusky underwing border. Breeds Juan Fernandez and Mocha islands, Chile; migrates to North Pacific. Vulnerable; threatened by introduced predators and longline bycatch. Feeds on fish and squid.
Black Petrel
46 cm. All-black petrel with pale yellowish bill with dark culmen ridge. Breeds only Great and Little Barrier islands off New Zealand. Vulnerable; migrates to eastern Pacific after breeding. Threatened by introduced predators; feeds on squid and fish.
