About These Birds

Basra Reed-warbler

The Basra Reed-warbler is an Endangered warbler of the family Acrocephalidae that breeds in reed beds of southern Iraq and winters in East Africa. Weighing about 20.9g with a wingspan of 16cm, it has plain brown-olive upperparts and pale underparts. Its breeding range is severely restricted by the drainage of Iraqi marshlands, making it highly vulnerable to habitat loss.

Anjouan Brush-warbler

The Anjouan Brush-warbler is a medium-sized acrocephalid warbler endemic to the island of Anjouan in the Comoros archipelago, weighing around 19 grams. It inhabits dense undergrowth and scrubby vegetation, foraging for insects low in the vegetation. Its long tail is distinctive among the brush-warblers.
