About
A poorly known Phasianidae partridge (~748 g) restricted to montane forests of central Borneo, including the Dulit Range. Very few specimens have been collected; biology largely undescribed. Forages on forest floor for seeds and invertebrates. Data Deficient due to extreme scarcity of records.

Identification
Plumage
Similar to Long-billed Partridge but male with deep chestnut nape and neck; brown upperparts with darker vermiculations; pale buff-white below with faint flank streaking; yellowish bill with red base.
Habitat & Range
Geographic Range
Endemic to montane forest on Mount Dulit and adjacent highlands of Sarawak, Borneo, above 900 m elevation.
Diet & Feeding
Omnivorous forest floor forager; takes seeds, fruits, invertebrates, and small vertebrates in Bornean montane forest.

Song
Similar to Long-billed Partridge; 'whurr-WHEEE' whistle slightly higher-pitched and less frequent. Data-deficient Bornean species; poorly documented vocally. Alarm likely a harsh chattering rattle.
