The Bearded Reedling is a distinctive small bird restricted to large reedbeds across Europe and temperate Asia. Males are orange-brown with a grey head and bold black moustachial stripes, while females are plain tawny-buff. It feeds on reed seeds in winter and insects in summer, and clings acrobatically to reed stems in its wetland habitat.
