The Black-legged Seriema is a medium-sized, long-legged terrestrial bird with gray-brown plumage, a small crest, and distinctive black legs setting it apart from the more common Red-legged Seriema. It inhabits dry woodland, thorn scrub, and open grasslands of the Chaco region in Paraguay, Bolivia, and northern Argentina. It is largely carnivorous, feeding on large insects, small reptiles, rodents, and birds.
