A large hummingbird (12-13 cm) found in tepui forests of southern Venezuela and adjacent Brazil and Guyana. Green plumage with a buff breast. Nectarivore of tepui highland forest. A Pantepui endemic restricted to table-top mountains.

Nectarivore specialising in tubular blossoms; supplements the floral nectar diet with tiny insects and spiders caught near flowers.
