A medium-sized frogmouth endemic to the island of Palawan in the Philippines. Dark rufous-brown plumage. Nocturnal insectivore of lowland primary forest. One of the least known frogmouths. Named after Frederick Chasen. Limited ecological data available.

Plumage
Males greyish-brown with fine dark vermiculations and white scapular spotting; females rufous with white-spotted wing coverts; Palawan Island endemic; plumage closely resembles Philippine Frogmouth but restricted to single island.
Habitat & Range
Geographic Range
Endemic to Palawan Island in the western Philippines. Resident in lowland and hill forest up to 1,200 m. Rare; restricted to Palawan.
Diet & Feeding
Crepuscular hunter of large beetles and other insects; uses wide gape to engulf prey flushed from leaf litter.
