Brachypteraciidae

Ground-rollers; 5 species of stout, long-tailed birds endemic to Madagascar. Closely related to rollers but terrestrial in behavior, walking through forest understorey and open scrub. Inhabit both humid eastern forest and dry western spiny forest. Nest in burrows. Colors range from vivid to cryptic.
