Buff-breasted Buttonquail (Turnix olivii) is a poorly-known small buttonquail endemic to Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, Australia. Sandy-buff below; dark-streaked above; olive-toned. Inhabits tropical grasslands on the Cape York Peninsula. Very rarely observed; first live bird photographed only in 2019.
Barred Buttonquail
Barred Buttonquail (Turnix suscitator) is a small 15–18 cm buttonquail of South and South-East Asia. Sandy-rufous above with dark barring; female has black throat and chest band. Widespread across India, Sri Lanka, China, and South-East Asia. Inhabits open grassland, scrub, and agricultural land. Polyandrous; distinctive purring call of female.
