Shy Albatross
Shy Albatross, 90–99 cm, wingspan 220–256 cm, is the largest mollymawk, breeding only on three Tasmanian islands. White body, grey back, narrow black-and-yellow bill. Near Threatened; the most common albatross in Australian waters; affected by longline bycatch and periodic poor breeding seasons.
Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross
Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross, 71–81 cm, wingspan 180–200 cm, breeds on Tristan da Cunha and Gough Island. Slender yellow culminicorn on dark bill; grey head, white body. Forages across the South Atlantic. Endangered; bycatch in longline fisheries remains a major threat.
