Pohnpei Fruit-dove

Pohnpei Fruit-dove (Ptilinopus ponapensis), 22 cm. Green with a lilac head and an orange-yellow breast; endemic to Pohnpei, Micronesia. Occupies primary forest above 200 m on this volcanic island. Frugivore. Vulnerable; total range barely exceeds 100 km².

Eared Dove

Slender dove, 24–27 cm, similar to Mourning Dove with brown plumage, black facial spots, and a pointed tail, but shorter-tailed. Highly abundant across South America from Colombia to southern Argentina and Chile, the Caribbean and Galápagos. Granivore of seeds. One of South America's most numerous doves, forming huge flocks. Least Concern.
