Atlantic Petrel
43 cm, wingspan 104 cm. Large; dark brown above with pale belly and dusky breast-band creating hooded appearance. Breeds Tristan da Cunha and Gough Island; ranges into south Atlantic and Indian Ocean. Endangered; threatened by introduced predators and longline fisheries.
Black-winged Petrel
30 cm. Small gadfly petrel; pale grey above with dark M-mark; white below with dark carpal patch and partial collar. Breeds Lord Howe, Kermadec, and central Pacific islands. Migrates to North Pacific; feeds on small squid and fish.
