About These Birds

Black-chested Prinia

The Black-chested Prinia is a small, warbler-like bird of sub-Saharan southern Africa, with a distinctive black breast band in breeding plumage, grey upperparts, and whitish underparts. It inhabits dry thorn scrub, open woodland, and grassland with scattered bushes in Angola, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and adjacent countries. It feeds on small insects and spiders, gleaning them from foliage.

Ashy Prinia

The Ashy Prinia is a common small warbler found across South Asia from Pakistan to Myanmar, inhabiting grasslands, scrub, and gardens. Weighing about 8g with a wingspan near 9.9cm, it has ashy-grey plumage and a characteristically long tail often held cocked upright. It feeds on insects and is a familiar garden bird.
