About These Birds

Anna's Hummingbird

Anna's hummingbird is the most common hummingbird along the Pacific coast and one of only three species resident in the United States year-round. Their body temperature can drop to near ambient at night to conserve energy.

Festive Coquette

A tiny hummingbird (7-8 cm) found in the Atlantic Forest and cerrado of eastern and central South America. Males have green crest and bronze-green cheek plumes. Nectarivore of forest edges, gardens, and cerrado. Relatively common in southeastern Brazil.
