Band-rumped Storm-petrel, 19–21 cm, breeds on Atlantic and Pacific volcanic islands including the Azores, Canaries, and Galápagos. Sooty brown with a white rump band; similar to Leach's but straighter wingtips and steadier flight. Multiple cryptic species may be involved. Planktivore; widespread pelagic.

Cape Verde Storm-petrel, 19–21 cm, breeds on the Cape Verde Islands and is one of the most recently recognised storm-petrel species. Another split from the Band-rumped Storm-petrel complex based on breeding season, calls, and genetics. Pelagic off West Africa. Near Threatened.
