Tiny dove, 15–18 cm, with scaly brown plumage, rufous primaries, and a pink-red bill base. Widespread from the southeastern USA through Central America and the Caribbean to northern South America, in open scrub, farmland, and coastal habitats. Granivore of tiny seeds. One of North America's smallest doves. Least Concern.
