Small dove, 17–20 cm, sandy-grey above, pinkish below, with a yellow bill base and a deep croaking call unlike other Columbina. Confined to arid coastal deserts and dry valleys from Ecuador to northern Chile. Granivore of desert seeds and plant material. Least Concern.

Shining Imperial-pigeon (Ducula chalconota), 38 cm. Richly iridescent bronze-green upperparts with a contrasting pale grey head and underparts. Found in montane forest of New Guinea from 700 to 2,200 m. Frugivore. Least Concern; common in hill and montane forest.
