About These Birds
Blue Jay
The blue jay is a bold, intelligent member of the corvid family known for its striking plumage and loud calls. Blue jays are important dispersers of oak trees, as they cache thousands of acorns each autumn. Their complex social behavior includes mimicking the calls of hawks to scare other birds from feeders.
Banggai Crow
The Banggai Crow is a Critically Endangered corvid of the family Corvidae found only on Peleng Island in Indonesia. Weighing about 175g with a wingspan of 40.2cm, it is a large all-black crow restricted to one of the world's smallest ranges for any corvid. Deforestation and hunting have reduced its population to critically low numbers.
