About These Birds

Abyssinian Owl

The Abyssinian Owl is a medium-sized owl weighing around 323g with a 67cm wingspan, found in East African highlands. It hunts small mammals and birds in montane forest and moorland habitats.

Biak Scops-owl

The Biak Scops-owl is a near-threatened small owl endemic to Biak Island in West Papua, Indonesia. It has cryptic brown-mottled plumage with small ear tufts typical of scops-owls. It inhabits lowland and hill forests, hunting insects and small vertebrates at night, and its very restricted range makes it sensitive to habitat changes.
