About These Birds
Black-headed Trogon
The Black-headed Trogon is a medium-sized, brilliant trogon with a glossy black head, vivid blue-green upperparts, and a golden-yellow belly with a white breast band. It inhabits humid lowland forests, forest edges, and gallery forest from Mexico through Central America to northwestern Colombia. It perches motionless in the forest understory before sallying to catch large insects or pluck fruits.
