The American Treecreeper is a slender, cryptically-patterned bird weighing about 8 g with a 12.7 cm wingspan, creeping up tree trunks in a spiral pattern while probing bark crevices for insects and spiders. It uses its stiff tail as a prop against bark, much like a woodpecker.
