Curlew Sandpiper: 18–23 cm, elegant sandpiper with a decurved bill and rich brick-red breeding plumage. Breeds on High Arctic tundra of Siberia; winters on tropical mudflats and coastal wetlands from Europe to Australia. NT. Feeds by probing. Threatened by Yellow Sea stopover habitat loss and predation. Long-distance migrant.
