Found in lowland tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia including Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, and Borneo. Forages on the forest floor for fallen seeds, fruits, and invertebrates. Vulnerable; dependent on primary lowland forest, heavily impacted by deforestation and palm oil expansion.

Ring-necked Francolin

A medium-sized Phasianidae francolin (~385 g) of highland grassland, heath, and moorland in the Albertine Rift and East Africa. Characterised by a white throat and a bold black ring bordering it. Feeds on grass seeds, bulbs, and invertebrates. Often calls from prominent rocks. Least Concern.
